This a lovely hotel, the beach is beautiful, however the food is horrible. None of the restaurants on the resort is good. I hope they improve on the food.

the resort is lovely, the service wonderful, the beach beautiful and the food pleasing. There could be improvement to the food, however, when on vacation to another country, I do not expect the cuisine to be the same as home or why would I leave? I found there to be a wonderful assortment of food native to the country and I was excited to sample it. When traveling you have to keep an open mind. If you cannot then you should stay State side.

My husband and I recently returned from staying at the Hotel Catalonia Riviera Maya (January 7-14, 2006), and we were extremely pleased! The resort is immaculate, the beach and pools were beautiful, the service was very good, the entertainment was fun. Each day had a different theme which was reflected in the food and nightly shows. It was family friendly, yet it was handled very well for the adult crowd. The snorkling off the beach was as good as Xel-Ha and Xcaret. The on-site Funjet reps were very friendly and helpful. We had a wonderful vacation, we will definately go again and we would highly recommend this great escape!

Pam(Rochester,MN) We stayed at Catalonia Riviera Maya (Feb 4-11, 2006) and absolutely LOVE this resort. Very clean, nice white sand beaches, rooms very clean and food was excellent. They offer a large variety of foods in several different restaurants. Nice pools lots of lounge chairs on beaches & at pools. Never went without a chair! Highly recommend this place!

Catalonia is a beautiful resort but there were many small problems that I found that would not get my family and I back there any time soon. Many staff members were unfriendly and some down right rude which I found surprising since we are hard working people who appreciate hard working people and we always tip even on all inclusive vacations. The food was bland and the grandkids didn't like too much of anything. Thank goodness there were nearby restaurants to eat where everyone one enjoyed a few good meals. The cleanliness was not the best either. Cockroaches in our room to ants on the serving line in at least one of the dining areas. Was an okay vacation because we were out of the cold and snow but was not the kind of place that I would recommend to my many traveling friends.
